根据欧盟统计数据，2011-2015年英国女性平均寿命83岁，男性平均寿命79岁，所以对于英国人来说，能活到一百岁，也并非易事。下面这则小视频采访了三位来自英国的百岁老人（centenarian）。让我们一起来看看，是什么秘诀让他们成功跨越了一个世纪。

第一位出场的百岁老人Cliff告诉我们，
年龄只是一串数字，不要太当回事儿，及时行乐。

Emilia Tereza Harper 103 years old
I’ve so many fondmemories.
I’ve always beenlucky.
Everything makes mehappy.
I don’t think there’s anything that I really need to do, becauseI’ve done practically everything that I ever wanted to do in the past.
I can live happily forever after because of mylovely memories.
第二位出场的老太太Emillafinkl ，显然拥有许多美好的回忆。她说自己总是非常幸运，什么事都能让她开心。
一个人怎么可能一直有好运呢？后面也有提到，老太太第一次怀胎生下的双胞胎不幸夭折。但是她却说“It's really wonderful to have something left behind”。即使人生有些不完美也很美好比高电影院 。
老太太知足常乐，会调整心态，用美好的眼光去看待一切，才能说出这样的话。这样的人注定幸福。

John Millington Denerley 102.5 years old
I’ve had a relativelyeasy life, even with the RAF five years of war.
It wasan adventure more than a penalty, even amongst the bombs.
Iwasted a lot of timein my childhood, entertainment and that sort of thing.
I enjoyed it.
I did a lot yachting when I was young. Another part of mymisspent youth.
RAF是英国皇家空军，John这个老头很有意思，把自己的人生讲得非常轻描淡写东门屿 ，五年的战争枪林弹雨一句话带过，说那更像是一场冒险而不是惩罚（an adventure more than a penalty）。
某种程度上说，John的思想还是很保守滴，非常像很多中国人，他觉得小时候一宿一宿听爵士乐，还有年轻的时候玩儿游艇，都是浪费时间浪费青春（misspent youth），不过他也承认，非常享受这一切（I enjoyed it）。
不禁想起五月天的《疯狂世界》，“青春是挽不回的水，转眼消失在指间。用力地浪费，再用力地后悔。” 浪费和后悔都是青春的关键词天尊重生，有时间可以浪费，有事情可以去后悔，也都是美好的。希望我到100岁的时候，也可以心安理得的说“I enjoyed it.”

身体可好？
Cliff：I don’t feel any older than I was 20/30 years ago.
Emilia
I’m not going yet. I’m still strong. I’m very very strong.
John：I don’t feel 29帝国双璧, but say 79, 69?
已经100多岁了，可以说离死亡的大门越来越近，但是几位老人依旧精神矍铄，不可能没有想到过死亡，只是已经能够坦然面对。
大家一定会问，能长命百岁，
是不是吃得很健康呀！
Cliff：I made my own bread by hand.
Emilia
It’s all the food that my mother cooked.
We always havefresh foodwhen we were youngsters,straight from the garden.
Apples, gooseberries,
John：skimmed milk, kitchen towels, butter, shepherd’s pie
除了Emilia吃得是自家种植的绿色食品罗休休，其他两位老人吃得和我们也没啥大区别，Cliff自己做面包。John 干脆拿出iPad，把自己的乐购（Tesco）订单给大家看，买了一些脱脂牛奶（skimmed milk），厨房毛巾，黄油，还有牧羊人馅儿饼（Shepherd's pie）足坛教父。
关于婚姻
Clifford：
We did have problems,
but we got through them.
I think nowadays, people give up too easily.
离婚这个事情，在中国也越来越普遍了。Cliff的感慨我深感赞同。人们好像越来越以自己为中心（self-centred），对别人的容忍度（tolerance）越来越小，即便是对自己的另一半（spouse）也是这样脊椎蛙 。
Emilia
Oh my marriage wasabsolutely wonderful.Heavenly, heavenly, heavenly!
Make the most of it, especially if it is yourfirst love.There is nothing like it.
Emilia的老公是自己的初恋，从16岁就在一起，一直到七十多岁丈夫去世。她说自己的老公既帅气又绅士。三个heavenly，幸福指数爆棚。
John：I’m always optimistic and she was always pessimistic.
So we get on very well together.
John还是轻描淡写的风格，说自己总是很乐观（optimistic），而妻子总是很悲观（pessimistic）乱世不了情 ，所以他们很般配。嗯，妻子已经变成了过去式was，所以，一个人的心态真的很重要。
有没有什么后悔的事？
Clifford：I was ill at collage. My father came to collect me and I didn’t want to go back with him.
Cliff年轻的时候估计比较叛逆，所以最后悔的事情就在对待自己的父母上面。
Emilia
None. None whatever. I can tell you right from my heart, no whatever.
能做到一件后悔的事情都没有，Emilia真是人生赢家。
John：If I had been more attentive at school in my early life优衣库代购 , I’d have studied more and harder.
The sooner you start studying, the better.
保守的John又来啦，“如果再给我一次机会，我一定会学习更专心（attentive），学的更多、更用功。”
给我们的建议：
Cliff：
Communicate,speak with your parents andtake their advice, or at least consider it. You don’t always have to follow it. But certainly don’t throw it out of the window.
Be as independent as you can, butdon’t be reluctant to ask for helpwhen you think you need it.
Cliff的忠告皮卡剧吧，让我们一定要多和父母交流，考虑他们的意见。人是要独立，但是有需要的时候，罗艳芳不要逞强，不愿意（reluctant）寻求帮助。
Emilia
I recommend anybody if they find theright husbandto marry. Not just live together李纯涛 , but marry, be closer and closer.
Behave well to other peopleandshow them respect, andhelp themas much as you possibly can. And it will be repaid hundredfolds.
Emilia告诉我们，一定要嫁对郎。结婚可不仅仅是住在一起。婚姻幸福，生活幸福，是一切疾病的良药（remedy）超时空来电。
要尊重他人，尽可能帮助别人。赠人玫瑰一斛珠 尼卡，手有余香。我们早读班的班长学委，不都是在帮助别人吗？
John：motto for life:Keep right on to the end of the road.
John的人生格言来自一首苏格兰歌曲：
Keep right on to the end of the road,Keep right on to the end,Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,Keep right on round the bend.
“right on”在这里是个双关语，有“straight”，一直走到路的尽头的意思，还有一层含义就是“in the proper way”，不要偏离航线走错边。
我们没办法决定生命的长度，
但是可以决定生命的宽度。
